Washington, September 14, 2026 : US President Donald Trump said Monday that Iran is seeking to reach an agreement with the United States, adding that Washington remains open to the possibility of negotiations with Tehran.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said Iran “wants to make a deal, quickly and badly,” while indicating that he would decide whether the United States would enter into negotiations.

Trump also said in a separate post that Russia and Ukraine had agreed to halt reciprocal strikes against energy facilities, without providing further details on the reported understanding.

The US President had previously urged Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to stop attacks targeting diesel-related infrastructure in Russia, arguing that the strikes were contributing to fuel shortages.

Trump said the global fuel shortage was not the result of developments in the Middle East, but was instead linked to the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
